Spooky characters will give you a nighttime scare

Halloween is approaching and, this is a great time to attend pumpkin patches, enjoy scary movies, and walk through spooky haunted houses. Several terrifying attractions in Greater Cincinnati are perfect for all Halloween fans. Here are four haunted attractions worth visiting this week.

Kings Island: The Haunt

For family and friends looking to enjoy a spooky evening, Halloween Haunt at Kings Island is for you. Friday and Saturday nights, guests can enjoy thrilling scare zones such as Madame Fatale’s Cavern of Terror and the newest attraction this season, Cornered. Don Helbig, area manager/digital marketing at Kings Island, said: “During Halloween Haunt, I really love the atmosphere. It is a totally different vibe at night. From the moment visitors walk in the park, it is a six-hour immersive experience that guests can enjoy.” Guests can also enjoy many rides, such as the Diamondback, the Banshee, Orion and the Beast. Park-goers can end the night by attending concerts featuring Drums of the Dead, Monster Rock and other performers.

Dent Schoolhouse

5963 Harrison Ave., Green Township

Looking for a cost-effective way to enjoy screams and scares? For $20 to $25, guests can endure an immersive walk-through of what the Dent Schoolhouse has to offer. During the 25-to-35-minute tour, guests will meet all types of frightening creatures. The killer crazy staff is ready to scare—watch out for the janitor who lurks in the basement halls. Thursday-Sunday and Nov. 5-6.

Land of Illusion

8762 Thomas Road, Middletown

Land of Illusion has transformed into a haunted scream park for guests who dare to enter. From Dr. Psycho’s Haunted Estate to Killer Klowns Haunted Maze, friends can enjoy scares that will last the whole night. Guests can also enter the Ghostly Gift Shop, which features collectibles, apparel and souvenirs great for keepsakes. Thursday-Sunday.

USS Nightmare

101B Riverboat Row, Newport, Kentucky

Do you love nighttime boat rides? USS Nightmare is a unique way to travel down the Ohio River and enjoy a haunted affair on a steam-powered boat. The two-deck ship includes terror that guests can experience during the 30-minute tour. With 18-plus crazed characters and four possible escapes, guests are in for a spine-chilling treat. Wednesday-Sunday.
