Celebrating its 50th anniversary, Butler Tech has announced a new expansion project

Since opening in 1975, Butler Tech has been a go-to institution in southwest Ohio for students looking to jumpstart their careers. Located in Fairfield Township, the school has spent the past half-century preparing students for careers and colleges in hopes of “transforming lives,” according to the school’s mission statement.  

Looking toward the future, Butler Tech has announced a new expansion project that seeks to “continue to innovate and inspire,” according to a press release from the school. Featuring expansions in aviation, healthcare and more, these new programs, due to open in January 2026, will help Butler Tech serve more students and meet employment needs in the area. 

The Knightsbridge Campus, located in Hamilton next to Miami University’s satellite campus in the city, will see the construction of a new hub for advanced manufacturing training, automation, robotics and engineering. In partnership with the university, as well as a slew of local businesses, the new state-of-the-art building will see students, professors and industry experts come together to get hands-on experience at the state-of-the-art facility.  

Over at the West Chester Campus, the Bioscience Center will receive an expansion to meet the needs of the 15% increase in student applications in healthcare education. Funded in part by a $7.2 million grant through the Ohio Career Technical Construction program, the $12.1 million renovation will allow more students to earn diplomas and certifications, in addition to experience with local hospitals.  

In addition to the expansions in manufacturing and healthcare, Butler Tech’s aviation will be revamped next winter as well. The Aviation Education Center on the Middletown Campus will see the addition of a new airplane hangar at the Middletown Regional Airport. The new $15 million building will allow students to learn new skills and experience in fields such as maintenance, engineering and unmanned aircraft systems. 

These plans “demonstrate Butler Tech’s enduring commitment to transforming lives and empowering students,” according to the press release. The statement continued: “Together, we continue to innovate and inspire for the next 50 years and beyond.”
