 Finding Light in 2020

Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park & Museum debuting new holiday show this Friday

Many of us have been forced to alter our holiday plans this year, so it may be the perfect time to add a new attraction to your family’s list of holiday traditions. Starting Friday and through Jan. 3, Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park & Museum in Hamilton will be home to a new holiday light show, Journey BOREALIS.

For the past 20 years, the sculpture park has been producing its Holiday Lights on the Hill show. In 2018, Pyramid Hill decided to shake things up to make its holiday show more a reflection of its mission to inspire and educate visitors. Over the past two years, the park partnered with Brave Berlin, a company known for its work on Cincinnati’s BLINK and LUMENOCITY, to create what the park is calling “a visual art experience showcasing local and regional new media artists, light-based sculptors, and partnering with local nonprofits to redefine an all-new holiday light show.”

Journey BOREALIS is a 2.5-mile drive-thru attraction with more than 1 million lights, three themed “zones” and many holiday art installations. The event’s soundtrack will incorporate original arrangements created by University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music grad Daniel Neil and the music of the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra and the Cincinnati Boychoir. All of the music can be accessed through the free app, Echoes.

“The entire Pyramid Hill team is proud to present Journey BOREALIS, an event that is focused on collaborative partnerships with regional arts organizations like the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra and the Cincinnati Boychoir,” states Pyramid Hill’s Executive Director Sean FitzGibbons in a press release. “Presenting a safe, drivable, holiday light experience that stands as a creative outlet for local artists is extremely important to the park.”

Starting Friday, the show will be open Monday through Thursday 6-9 p.m. and Friday through Sunday 6-10 p.m. Tickets are $20 per car Monday through Thursday, $25 per car Friday through Sunday, $15 per car for park members every day and free to city of Hamilton residents every Tuesday.
