From autumn porch pots to custom candles, here’s where to get your autumn fix before the temperature actually drops 

It’s not quite fall yet (especially since we’re still facing 90-degree days), but there are plenty of workshops around town if you want to get in the mood before the weather turns cooler. 

Benken in Silverton is holding several events this month to get people in the fall mood. Sept. 16, its hosting Fall Blooms & Bites Night. The garden center will stay open late and attendees can create a fall bouquet while enjoying charcuterie and wine. Sept. 18, its hosting two Fall Porch Pot Workshops, where you can make an autumn-inspired container garden. And Sept. 20, Benken will go pumpkin crazy with a series of pumpkin-inspired activities, including a Floral Pumpkin Workshop, Mini Pumpkin Decorating and a family-friendly Pumpkin Party that features games, raffles and more.  

On the West Side, JC Boutique, a custom apparel and gift shop, is holding a Fall Crushed Glass Workshop on Sept. 22. Attendees can make fall suncatchers the can feature tigers (for the Bengals), ghosts or pumpkins.  

In Mariemont, fall scent lovers should sign up for Magnolia Rose’s Fall Candle Making Class with Candlespice. Attendees will make their own custom-blended 8 ounce candle in the florist’s intimate Garden Studio.  

And in Over-the-Rhine, you can head to Rookwood Pottery for a Hand-Painting Workshop with Fall Pumpkins. Attendees will learn hand-painting techniques from Rookwood Pottery’s experts while creating a new unique piece of fall décor.
