“Ohio at the Crossroads” will showcase local and statewide art on the nation’s 250th anniversary 

As part of its “America 250” celebrations, the City of Centerville and the Centerville Arts Commission have announced a public call for artists for its Ohio at the Crossroads, a curated art exhibition commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026. 

The exhibition will highlight Ohio’s role in shaping the nation’s history, innovation and identity, with a particular focus on the Centerville–Washington Township area. Organizers say the show is intended to reflect how the region has contributed to pivotal moments in America’s past while continuing to influence its future. 

Artists are invited to submit original works that interpret Ohio’s history, culture, people and places. Submissions may explore themes such as westward expansion, industrial growth, transportation, invention, civic leadership or contemporary reflections tied to the nation’s founding and future.  

The call for artists is open to individuals of all backgrounds and experience levels. Artists working in any medium, style or technique may apply, and up to three works per artist can be submitted for consideration. Selected pieces will be reviewed by the Centerville Arts Commission. The online entry form opens Monday, Jan. 5, 2026, with submissions accepted through Sunday, May 3, 2026. Artists whose work is selected will be notified in early June. 

The exhibition will be on display throughout July 2026, with the gallery accessible to the public 24 hours a day. Residency in Centerville or Washington Township is not required to participate.
