Behringer-Crawford Museum live music makes post-COVID-19 return

Grab some chairs and get ready to jam out because music is making its return to the Behringer-Crawford Museum.

The museum’s Music@BCM concert series, which was canceled last year due to COVID-19, will launch Thursday and will take place in BCM’s outdoor amphitheater, 1600 Montague Road (Devou Park) in Covington, Kentucky.

The weekly concerts will feature a wide variety of artists and music genres including generational music, Latin, bluegrass and country. One of the priorities of Music@BCM is to emphasize Kentucky’s rich musical style while supporting local musicians.

Laurie Risch, the executive director of BCM, says many musicians struggled because of a lack of available performances during the pandemic, making this year’s series more important than ever.

“We just want to make sure that we’re here to be able to provide that venue to get the musicians out there and get the support of the community to back them and have fun while they’re doing it,” Risch says.

While the concert series might be mostly about music, Risch says it is also a great event to gather and enjoy a drink from the Bircus Brewing beer truck.

“It’s an event to get people to come together, get to know each other, (and) socialize together in an entertaining fashion, but it’s through that music and the tie to the Kentucky musical heritage.”
