Greater Cincinnati builds a vibrant entrepreneurial community
If you’re looking to start a business from scratch, you’re lucky to live in the Greater Cincinnati and Tristate region. We have a dynamic regional economy here with ample business resources that have a rich history of embracing entrepreneurs. That makes our area an excellent place to live, work and thrive. But as with any business, entrepreneurial endeavors usually need all the help they can get.
Enter SCORE Greater Cincinnati, which serves 19 counties in Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Southeast Indiana.
SCORE is a nonprofit organization that helps launch and grow small businesses by providing training, guidance and expertise either for free or for greatly reduced costs. A national organization providing help to more than 11 million small businesses across the country, SCORE was first founded in 1964 and our Greater Cincinnati chapter was one of the first. Since then, SCORE Greater Cincinnati has played an integral part in our region’s small business success.
In 2022 alone, SCORE Greater Cincinnati played a key role in getting more than 255 new businesses off the ground. It also played a hand in creating more than 789 total jobs.
But don’t take our word for it. More than 86% of SCORE’s clients would recommend the organization to family and friends. At the end of 2022, 90% of its “in business” clients were still in business at the end of the year. Of those clients, 55% reported an increase in revenue.
So how does SCORE Greater Cincinnati help? Primarily through one-on-one business mentoring.
SCORE has an entire team of professionals with expertise in administration, technology, logistics, finance, marketing and more. These mentors offer honest, confidential and sometimes even tough conversations about your fledgling business in all phases: from vision, through startup and continued growth.
An experienced SCORE mentor can be the key to a successful startup and can often help elevate your business to the next level. Statistics show that small business clients who received three or more hours of mentoring reported higher revenues and increased business growth.
But small business, one-on-one mentoring is just one of the services SCORE Greater Cincinnati offers regional entrepreneurs. The organization also offers a complete schedule of workshops, webinars, downloadable management tools and networking opportunities as well as CEO Roundtables and other group events.
On October 26 at 1 p.m., SCORE Greater Cincinnati is offered a live online event entitled Storytelling Marketing—Using Your Story to Create Marketing Content for Your Business.
During the webinar, national bestselling author Joylynn M. Ross, founder and CEO of Path to Publishing, and Brandy M. Miller, Path to Publishing copywriting and storytelling expert, taught how to use your story to create content that will bring awareness to your business. Attendees also learned to recreate your story to help create other marketing materials, including blogs, articles, website copy, newsletters, social media content and books among other materials.
