Communities to offer parades, pyrotechnics and plenty of family-friendly activities
So let’s not forget what this weekend is all about: Independence Day. July 4, 1776. That’s when Americans declared their desire to separate from the British monarchy of George III. The Second Continental Congress, through ratification of the Declaration of Independence, made it known that the Thirteen Colonies would be free and independent states — and united in their opposition to the Crown, no longer subject to British authority. Because of that action, we freely celebrate the Fourth of July holiday — and you will be able to find many opportunities to enjoy your freedom in the accompanying list. Check websites for updates.
