The Pickle Lodge

When planning a company meeting or event, a pickleball court may not be the first venue that comes to mind.

But Mitch Dunn, the co-founder of The Pickle Lodge in West Chester, says his venue can host a variety of events, from small meetings to team-building activities to large dinners.

“Joe [Frank] and I, when we sort of ideated the vision, we said we wanted it to be as much an event center as a pickleball club, and we’re dead serious about that. We really wanted, and I think we’re achieving this more and more, we wanted to be a place where you could have everything from a 10-person birthday party all the way up to a 250-person wedding,” says Dunn.

He and his team have been able to host so many different events thanks to the venue’s many spaces. In addition to its many individually fenced courts (both inside and outside), The Pickle Lodge has a conference room, a semi-private loft with monitors and Wi-Fi, and large seating areas both inside and outside.

“To give planners sort of a spectrum, you can literally just use the space for gathering and networking and a cocktail party, but you could take it all the way up to a fully blown organized team building pickleball tournament,” says Dunn.

Those who book events at the venue have access to The Pickle Lodge’s catering (provided by Two Cities Pizza), AV systems, a dedicated event planner and 10 pickleball instructors.

While you don’t have to play pickleball when hosting an event at The Pickle Lodge, Dunn recommends it if you’re interested.

“It’s so accessible. You could put four people on a court that have never touched a paddle, and you give them about 10 to 15 minutes of instruction, and they can be playing a credible game of pickleball. And what happens with pickle really fast is you realize on one hand how easy it is and on the exact other hand how hard it is to master. … I think that’s what makes it great for team building and stuff like that because a.) you can do it in 15 minutes, but b.) it presents these really interesting team dynamic challenges that I think are so fun,” he says.

The Summit Hotel

Companies looking to set their event or meeting in an inspiring location may want to consider The Summit Hotel in Madisonville.
