Museums around Cincinnati are a great place to cool off and gain new knowledge this summer  

Beat the heat this summer and head to one of the many fun and educational museums Cincinnati has to offer. 

The American Sign Museum features bright and colorful signs as it works to restore and preserve these historic signs for years to come. Many of these signs are similar to the ones we drive by every day. The museum’s collection has many different signs on display, from old McDonald’s signs to theater signage. The museum is open Wednesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  

The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center builds on the foundational principles of the Underground Railroad and promotes inclusivity for all. The museum offers visitors both permanent and temporary exhibits that promote open dialogue and educates future leaders in the social justice movement. Tickets also include a film viewing in the theater. The museum is open from Wednesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  

The Cincinnati Museum Center is located in the historic Union Terminal and a museum complex that houses several museums. With one entrance ticket, visitors can visit the Museum of Natural History and Science, the Children’s Museum, the Cincinnati History Museum and the Robert D. Lindner Family OMNIMAX Theater. The Nancy & David Wolf Holocaust & Humanity Center and the Cincinnati History Library and Archives are also featured in the complex. The center also features unique traveling exhibits such as the LEGO Jurassic World exhibition, which runs through January 2027. The museums are open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  

The oldest wooden residence in Cincinnati is the Taft Museum of Art, which opened as a public art museum in 1932. The Taft Museum of Art hopes to connect the community through its many collections, special exhibitions, events and unique spaces. Its galleries are all featured within the house and were collected by Anna Sinton Taft and Charles Phelps Taft. Explore the mural lined hallways, Chinese porcelains, American furniture or portraits of the art enthusiast founders, Anna and Charles. The museum is open Wednesday to Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  

A good way to show Cincinnati pride is to visit the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame and Museum to learn more about the players who made history. Explore the timeline of the team or what the team looked like in the past versus now. The museum currently has a feature exhibit highlighting The Big Red Machine’s 1975 and 1976 World Championships. The museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
