With revamped grounds and a bold new focus on food and drink, the Cincinnati Open returns
Tennis returns to the Cincinnati area this week with the 126th Cincinnati Open, hosted at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio. A world-class tournament, the event takes place just weeks before the tennis season’s end at the U.S. Open in early September. While the tennis tournament is an exciting event for tennis players and fans, the Cincinnati Open offers amenities for even casual attendees.
Perhaps most exciting is the tournament’s new focus on food and drink. This August, the tennis complex will unveil a $260 million renovation. The project upgraded the complex to include upgraded seating, shaded lounges and doubled the campus acreage to more than 40 acres. What’s more, the venue has grown to now have 31 outdoor tennis courts, a six-court indoor facility, pickleball and paddle courts.
In addition to the new renovations being unveiled this year, the food is an exciting draw. Event organizers have elevated the culinary scene with a mix of local icons, inventive new vendors and premium drink experiences. Cincinnati classics like Skyline Chili and Graeter’s Ice Cream are back, but they’re joined by offerings such as Italian-Argentine fare, steakhouse favorites, Mediterranean dishes and more.
The drink selection at the tournament will also be robust. In addition to the bars throughout the grounds serving up craft cocktails featuring tequila for tournament sponsor Maestro Dobel, Sonder Brewing and 50 West will also be on hand, ensuring craft beer lovers’ needs are met. And for those looking to relax between matches, shaded beer gardens and patio lounges provide a spot to relax.
One of the oldest and most prestigious tennis tournaments in the U.S., The Cincinnati Open was first played in 1899. It’s the only ATP and WTA event in the country outside the U.S. Open to host both men’s and women’s competitions during the same week.
Tickets and information are available on the tournament’s official website.
