Tri-State Warbird Museum’s Family Fun Day encourages families to get creative and curious
Where else can you climb into the cockpit of a genuine World War II aircraft, participate in STEM activities and do a scavenger hunt, all in one place?
Buckle up and prepare for lift off at Family Fun Day at the Tri-State Warbird Museum (TSWM), where you can enjoy several activities including aircraft climb-ins, aviation related crafts, games, a parachute build and launch, STEM demonstrations, and a museum scavenger hunt. The event will be held January 20, 1-3 p.m. at the museum, located at 4021 Borman Drive in Batavia.
“Every year we try to showcase new crafts, games and engagement activities to make each Family Fun Day a unique experience,” says Stephanie Felts, director of Education and Public Programming at TSWM.
Family Fun Day visitors are free to choose what activities best suit their family and can participate in all activities or stay in their favorite areas.
“Families can choose from many different stations and activities that encourage fun and learning, all while being in the midst of amazing WWII aircraft and exhibits,” says Felts.
TSWM opened in 2005 with a commitment to preserve WWII aircraft, educate visitors on America’s role in WWII and honor those who served.
“TSWM is most known for our stunning, meticulously restored flightworthy WWII aircraft,” says Felts. “Being up close and personal with aircraft that helped win WWII is always a memorable experience.”
Family Fun Day at TSWM first took off in 2023 as a way to bring families together for a day of fun and discovery at the museum.
“Our aircraft climb-ins are always a crowd favorite. These encounters are all included in the Family Fun Day admission price,” says Felts.
Be sure to view some of the museum’s most iconic planes that have been restored to flying condition, such as “Cincinnati Miss,” “Yankee Doodle,” “Hokie Pokie” and many more.
