5 ways to have an unforgettable weekend in the Tristate
If you decided to stay home for Spring Break, or if you were planning to be out and about this weekend, you and your family may have been disappointed by this weekend’s weather report. But you can still have plenty of fun this weekend—even in the cold. We found five things to do that allow you to have some Spring Break fun while staying in the Tristate.
Opening this weekend is the Cincinnati Museum Center’s new featured exhibition, Bricktionary: The ultimate LEGO A-Z. The exhibition features more than 150 LEGO models, including a life-sized orca, a Saturn V rocket and more.
You can still have some outdoor fun in the cold, too. The California Woods Nature Preserve is hosting a special event Saturday 9 a.m.-noon called Waffles in the Woods (https://www.cincinnati-oh.gov/cincyparks/visit-a-park/parks-events-calendar/waffles-in-the-woods1/). Families will be able to try real maple syrup made at the preserve, learn about maple sugaring, take a walk in the woods and eat waffles from the food truck Marty’s Waffles. Celtic band Ceol Mhor will also be performing 10 a.m.-noon.
Another fun outdoor activity is happening at Parky’s Farm in Winton Woods. Barnyard Bonanza: Follow the Rainbow invites kids to get into the St. Patrick’s Day fun at the farm. According to Great Parks of Hamilton County, “A mischievous leprechaun is up to some silly shenanigans at the farm! Join us for a St. Patrick’s Day adventure as we ask the animals for hints and follow them to find out what’s hiding at the end of the rainbow.” Children must be accompanied by an adult and you must register today for the Saturday event.
Another event happening this weekend is Unicorn World at the Duke Energy Convention Center. Families will have the opportunity to walk through an enchanted forest, work on arts and crafts, enjoy story time and see life-sized, moving unicorns. Tickets must be purchased in advance, and children 2 and under are free.
And if it’s been a while since you visited the Newport Aquarium, this weekend is a great time to visit the aquarium’s newest exhibit, Hatchling Harbor. The exhibit features a 25-foot-long habitat filled with fish, baby animals like the Parrotfish and other creatures like lobsters and crabs.
