American Sign Museum

A top local senior photographer shares 5 Cincinnati locations for unique photos

Chefs have top secret recipes. As a photographer, my favorite locations are my top-secret recipes. You know those images you see scrolling through Facebook that make you wonder how they found a spot that beautiful or unique? These places are my favorites for many reasons. Some do require rental fees, but I believe that expense is well worth it as they are typically less crowded and allow you to capture more creative shots.

How many are on your radar?

Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum
4521 Spring Grove Ave., Cincinnati
Most clients do a double take when I suggest this location, but it is truly one of the most beautiful natural locations in Cincinnati. The grounds include gorgeous landscapes, ponds, stone buildings and bridges.

American Sign Museum
1330 Monmouth Ave., Cincinnati
The museum has signs of all types including pre-electric signs, neon (obviously—and my favorite!), modern signs and painted barn signs. If you are looking for a location that screams fun and quirky-this is your spot.

The Sign Museum does require a fee for photography.

French Park
3012 Section Road, Amberley Village
Amberley Village hosts this 275-acre park with trails, creeks, meadows, a distant city view and the picturesque French House. This gem is surprisingly largely unknown to many around Cincinnati. It’s a great place for eye catching natural images.

Bolivar Alley
578 E. 12th St., Pendleton
This incredible alley filled with colorful murals is a true hidden gem. ArtWorks Cincinnati is responsible for the creation of this distinct street art destination. Everyone can find the perfect backdrop in the variety hosted by this alley.

Findlay Market
1801 Race St., Over-the-Rhine
While most locals are familiar with this market for its food finds, many don’t consider it as a possible location for urban-leaning, colorful images. The 19th century architecture in and around the market makes a spectacular backdrop. Insider tip: Plan your session on Monday when the market is closed.
