Are you already behind? Find out with our senior picture timeline
Calling the Class of 2024, it’s time to start the senior picture process! I know these kiddos are still juniors but there are important things to do now. Don’t worry, we’ll break it all down and simplify every step.
First, here are a few key phrases you need to know.
Book
To book your session, you will pay a retainer or deposit to hold your future shoot date. Some photographers also include a prepaid product credit at the time of booking.
Shoot
The day of your photo session.
Reveal and Order Appointment
Scheduled date to view, select and purchase your images and products.
Now that you’ve got the key phrases, let’s break down the timeline into the main steps and their timing.
– Winter of junior year: Research and select your senior photographer. I strongly recommend you call and speak with several of your preferred photographers to see which one is the best fit.
– Spring of junior year: Book your senior photographer. The most sought-after photographers will book their calendar well before school is out in May or June, so don’t wait.
– Summer between junior and senior year: The most common time to shoot senior pictures.
– Mid October of senior year: Typically the last time to shoot and meet yearbook deadlines.
– Early November of senior year: Final opportunity for selection and ordering to meet yearbook deadlines
– December/January of senior year: Typical school yearbook deadlines
I created a video to walk you through each step in this process (forwards and backwards) and included some other tips as well. Check it out here:
