Communities are offering events other than regular trick-or-treating

Halloween is almost here, but instead of warily watching for ghosts and goblins many of us will be on the lookout for the dreaded COVID-19. After more than 8 months of living with the virus, it is still very much here and it is spreading. On Sunday, the state reported 2,309 new cases within Ohio, and that number continues to grow.

The best (and safest) way to enjoy Halloween this year may be to avoid your normal traditions and try something new—in your car. Several communities are offering socially distanced options that can be enjoyed from your vehicle for those who still wish to have an enjoyable Halloween.

Tri-County Assembly Trunk or Treat

Oct. 31, 3-5 p.m.
7350 Dixie Highway, Fairfield

The church calls this event a “30-45 minute drive-thru experience.” Families are invited to dress up for the event, and as they drive through the experience they’ll pop their trunk at several spots to collect candy, toys, bibles and hot chocolate.

Vineyard Westside Drive-Thru Trunk or Treat

Oct. 30, 6:30-8 p.m.
3420 Glenmore Ave., Cincinnati

Families can drive through the event to pick up lots and lots of candy. Participants are encouraged to come in costume.

YMCA Trunk or Treat

Oct. 29, 6-8 p.m.

Two events: One at Clippard Family YMCA (8920 Cheviot Road, Cincinnati) and another at Powel Crosely Jr. YMCA (9601 Winton Road, Cincinnati)

At both YMCAs, trick-or-treaters are encouraged to dress up for the drive-thru in the parking lot.
