New Harmony at Anderson aims to make residents feel at home
When it comes to feeling at home, one senior living community, Harmony at Anderson at 6201 Clough Pike in Anderson Township, is looking to fit the bill. The community, whose motto is “Family Serving Families,” is set to open in the spring of 2022.
“Harmony at Anderson is certainly all about ‘Family Serving Families.’ It’s a family-owned and operated company, and that is something they truly portray within their communities,” says Pebbles Terrill, sales counselor from Harmony at Anderson.
Harmony at Anderson will offer assisted living and memory care with 128 apartments, including 95 designed for assisted living and 33 for memory care residents. Amenities include three meals a day prepared by a chef, daily housekeeping, laundry services twice a week and transportation. There also will be physical therapy on-site and a 24-hour nurse on-site, as well as a salon and spa, restaurant-style dining, a movie theater and daily activities, such as exercise, crafts, outdoor activities and field trips. The bistro also will be a popular gathering place for happy hour and social events.
“What Harmony likes to do is gather information based on what the community and residents in the community like to do, so that way, we can really tailor the activities for those individuals to make sure we’re doing something they are interested in doing,” Terrill says, “The activities director will create a monthly plan, and those activities will be prepared and executed daily.”
Harmony at Anderson will have assisted living apartments with various floor plans, including studio apartments, one-bedroom apartments and two-bedroom apartments. In memory care, studio apartments and one-bedroom apartments are available.
Headquartered by Harmony Senior Services with offices in Roanoke, Virginia, and Charleston, South Carolina, there are 39 communities, located primarily in the Midwest. This is the company’s first community in Ohio. Several new communities will also be opening in Kentucky and Indiana.
“Harmony was founded on the belief that people deserve higher quality senior living options, and that’s one thing we pride ourselves on is that quality of senior living,” Terrill says.
When it comes to choosing a new place to live, Terrill says it can feel like an “overwhelming experience.” Often, families can collect a lot of information, but they really don’t know what do to with it, she says. Harmony at Anderson walks them through the process, so they understand what’s best for them.
“What I would recommend is taking the time to create a list of what’s important to them. Then, they have something to base their decisions on. When they do visit these communities, they already know what they are looking for, and creating those relationships with people they are talking to is going to be key,” Terrill says.
It’s also good to ask questions. Some common questions might be if there is a 24-hour nurse or physical therapy on site, and what the food is like.
“We have a great team that cares for each individual, and we want to create a welcoming, homey atmosphere. So, our staff really makes a difference,” Terrill says. “We are also in Anderson, and a lot of people want to stay in Anderson, and we have that availability for them to stay in their hometown, or to be close to their children.”
