Enjoy a month of festivals and events in Greater Cincinnati

Every year, Latino and Hispanic Americans set aside a special time—Sept. 15 through Oct. 15—to celebrate their culture and history, and to recognize the influential impact they have made all over the world. National Hispanic Heritage Month began in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week under President Johnson, then was expanded to a monthlong celebration by President Reagan in 1988. In Cincinnati, there are many ways to celebrate. To kick off the month, here are three events coming up.

Hispanic Heritage Month Opening Ceremony

3 p.m. Sept. 15: Family and friends can gather and join in on this live virtual event. During the ceremony, this is a great way to start off this month by coming together to discuss the importance of National Hispanic Heritage Month and to celebrate ancestry and accomplishments.

Hispanic Heritage Festival

Noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 19: Great Parks of Hamilton County is celebrating the month by hosting its inaugural Hispanic Heritage Festival at Sharon Woods’ Cardinal Crest Meadow, 11450 Lebanon Road, Sharonville. The festival will offer many family activities to enjoy, including dancing, food trucks, live music crafts and booths.

Fiesta Rojos at Great American Ballpark

7 to 10 p.m. Sept. 24: Celebrate at Great American Ball Park, Downtown. During Reds pregame activities, entertainment will be provided in the Kroger Fan Zone. There will be an on-field presentation of all 22 flags from Latin countries. Also, make sure to stay after the game to watch the fireworks show.
