The Flying Pig Marathon returns this weekend
A Cincinnati classic, the Flying Pig Marathon takes place this weekend with events scheduled from Friday through Sunday across downtown Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.
Friday May 1
The weekend kicks off with the opening of the race expo at the Duke Energy Convention Center, where participants pick up race packets and browse vendors. In the evening, the one-mile race is held downtown.
Saturday, May 2
Saturday features the shorter offerings of the weekend. The 10K and 5K are held in the morning, both starting and finishing downtown. These races are open to a wide range of runners, from experienced participants to first-timers. The Flying Piglet, a series of youth races for children, also takes place, along with the PigAbilities event for athletes with disabilities.
Sunday, May 3
The main events will take place on Sunday, kicking off early in the morning. The marathon, half marathon and marathon relay all begin early before stretching across the city. The courses take runners through downtown Cincinnati, into surrounding neighborhoods and across the river into Northern Kentucky before returning to the finish line along the riverfront. A post-race celebration is held near the finish area following the conclusion of the races.
Road closures are in effect throughout the weekend, particularly on Sunday morning during the marathon and half marathon. Organizers advise participants and residents to review course maps and closure schedules in advance.
