No matter the season, museums are a great place to see and experience curated exhibits, learn about the past—and have fun! Luckily, Cincinnati boasts an impressive number of museums, including the American Sign Museum, which is guaranteed to brighten your day, or the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame Museum, which is perfect for baseball lovers. Whether you’re coming from out of town or you’re a local looking for something to do, here are five museums worth checking out.
American Sign Museum
1330 Monmouth Ave., Camp Washington
The American Sign Museum features more than 100 years of signage and is dedicated to the protection and promotion of the craft. Visitors can enjoy a phone audio tour and look in on a full-time neon sign workshop. The museum’s manager of digital communications, Erin Holland, says the museum is enjoyable for people of all interests and ages.
“This museum is really great because we offer a little bit of something for anyone. If you are a history lover, an art lover or a technology lover, you can kind of see that,” Holland said. Open Wednesday through Sunday. Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for youths.
Cincinnati Art Museum
953 Eden Park Drive, Walnut Hills
The Cincinnati Art Museum has more than 67,000 works covering 6,000 years of art. Visitors can roam the museum halls or participate in the programs, activities and special events. Open for general admission Tuesday through Sunday. Free with ticketed special exhibitions.
National Underground Railroad Freedom Center
50 E. Freedom Way, Downtown
The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center sits along the Ohio River, which once flowed between free-state Ohio and border-state Kentucky during slavery. With permeant and special exhibits, the museum is guaranteed to spark conversation and illuminate the true meaning of inclusive freedom. Open Wednesday through Sunday. Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for youths.
Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame Museum
100 Joe Nuxhall Way, Downtown
As the first professional baseball team, the Reds have a rich history, and there is no better place to see that than the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame and Museum. Here, you can learn about everything from the team’s first game to who’s in the hall of fame. Hours vary depending on when the Reds are playing. Adult admission is $12, and youths under age 12 are free.
Cincinnati Museum Center
1301 Western Ave., Queensgate
Not only is the Cincinnati Museum Center one of the largest cultural institutions in the city, it is also the perfect place for people of all ages to explore the world through science, regional history and meaningful experiences. With a variety of programs and exhibits, the award-winning museum is a must. Open Thursday through Monday. Admission is $14.50 for adults and $10.50 for youths.
