These local farm events are perfect for friends and familySam Cioffi Summer isn’t over just yet, and neither is the fun. With these farm-related activities, you can keep busy during these next few weeks. From flowers to berries to murder mystery, there’s a little bit of something for everyone at these local farms.
The Marmalade Lily
The Marmalade Lily, located on Schlottman Road in Loveland, is an event venue on a 10-acre flower farm. The farm not only serves as a wedding venue, but it also hosts its own events that are open to the public. One of these is U-Cut Flowers.
U-Cut Flowers allows guests to walk the farm to collect and gather their own basket of flowers. While the Marmalade Lily will provide a basket and clippers, visitors are also welcome to bring their own vases if they choose to make their own flower arrangements.
The event regularly occurs on Wednesdays, 6-8:30 p.m., and Saturdays, 8:30-11 a.m.., with the first half hour reserved for the elderly and immunocompromised. Guests should call to reserve a table if the group is eight people or larger.
Blooms and Berries Farm Market
Blooms and Berries is a farmer’s market and garden center also located in Loveland. The farm holds a variety of outdoor events, with one allowing visitors to come and pick their own berries. Although the strawberry season has come to a close, the began in June. Future participants can sign up for the farm’s newsletter and check its website to see when the next picking day will be. Reservations must be made in advance.
In the meantime, guests can attend Cherry Weekend July 18 and 19 and Blueberry Weekend July 25 and 26. Each weekend will allow visitors to enjoy various berry baked goods and pre-order the fruit in bulk.
Vinoklet Winery, located on Colerain Avenue in Cincinnati, is both a winery and a restaurant. Vinoklet hosts weddings as well as public events, such as Bluegrass Spaghetti & Meat Balls, which provides visitors with all-you-can-eat spaghetti and meatballs and live bluegrass music on Wednesdays. Reservations are recommended.
The winery also offers a Murder Mystery Dinner. With the purchase of a ticket, guests are given dinner and a show, put on by Duffy Hudson from Sharpo Murder Mysteries. The next scheduled Murder Mystery Dinner is July 30. Tickets can be purchased here.
