17th Annual Heart Ball

Walk the red carpet of the 17th Annual Heart Ball and hear the heart-warming stories of medical professionals, volunteers and heart disease and stroke survivors.

The ball, presented by TriHealth to benefit the American Heart Association, will be held Saturday, Feb. 6, at the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza. A black-tie gala with dinner, dancing and auctions, the evening honors 20 years of Samuel Kaplan M.D. Visionary Award Honorees and Claire Phillips, recipient of the Heart of the City Award.

A young professional after-party will follow the gala at the Red Heart Lounge from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

2010 ADDY® Awards Gala

AdClub Cincinnati honors the area’s most creative advertising at its annual ADDY Awards competition and bash.

Gold and silver ADDY winners receive trophies and certificates for their work and advance to a regional competition. Those winners face off in the American Advertising Federation’s national ADDY competition in Orlando, Fla., in June.

The local event begins at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at the Newport Syndicate. Paid reservations are required. Tickets cost $60 for AdClub members, $70 for non-members, and $45 for students.

2009 Chamber Awards

The West Chester-Liberty Chamber Alliance extends its highest honors at its 2010 Annual Dinner & Awards Gala March 12.

The awards recognize companies that have shown excellence in their business’s landscape design, companies that have newly constructed, continuously maintained or improved building interiors or exteriors, an individual for extraordinary community involvement, an individual for a commitment to enhancing the quality of the chamber through participation and support, a business owner/operator or CEO who has demonstrated sound leadership and vision, an organization or individual who has shown extraordinary support for a nonprofit in the southeastern Butler County area, and a chamber member dedicated to the business community and volunteerism.

WalMart Mini-Marathon and Heart Walk

The American Heart Association celebrates the 33rd year of its Mini-Marathon and Heart Walk in March. The local tradition draws more than 13,000 participants annually.

The weekend begins Saturday, March 27, with a Health and Fitness Expo held in the Duke Energy Convention Center from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On Sunday, the 15K Mini-Marathon takes off at 8 a.m. from downtown. The 5K Heart Run is next at 10:30 a.m., followed by the 2K Kids Mini-MaraFun at 11:30 a.m. and the 5K and 10K Heart Walks at noon.

New this year is the 1K Steps for Stroke, which begins at 12:15 p.m. and is intended for heart and stroke survivors.
