Giving Thanks for our Local Health Care

Welcome to our annual Best Doctors in America issue. I find myself content going into the holidays with our third boy born here last month. Even with all the stress, I did feel comfortable with the thought that we had many quality options locally with where we could go for the birth.

Staying in the hospital for four days, I gained more appreciation of how the business of health care has grown, even since our first child five years ago. Construction to fill the health care demand booms throughout the region, as you could see with the cranes out our window. And with our view, you could see how many people it takes to make a hospital run. A shift change would mobilize the cars in the parking lot, and in 20 minutes many hundreds could be seen coming and going. One could only imagine the same situation at every local hospital and what those jobs and services mean to our economy.

What becomes obvious as health choices become personal is the need to educate yourself on the local options in an unbiased manner. Collecting these options was a big reason for our choice to partner with Best Doctors in America to provide the list of doctors in this issue. We chose Best Doctors in America because of their tireless effort to filter the list of doctors. We have no way to change this list given to us, and as such, you can be assured that no advertising pressures affect who is selected. Not only is Best Doctors in America the “gold standard” among other city and regional magazines across the country, it is peer-voted amongst other doctors, and Best Doctors have the ability to ensure all doctors are in good standing with the different health accreditation organizations. We could not possibly provide this vetting within our staff locally.

We hope you do enjoy this issue as it also covers as many of the holiday endeavors we could fit on the pages. The Tristate is home to so many activities during the season. We wish you joy with hopes that you can get in many of these events with those that you love.

PS. My list to Santa also includes a Bengals playoff win. Lets hope those elves up North get the message.
