Christmas remark criticized

Hello. I am not sure to whom I should address my concerns, so please bear with me. First, I would like to say that I read your magazine on a regular basis and I usually enjoy it very much. I just picked up the Oct/Nov issue and I am very disappointed in something that was written in the “Other Tips for Flawless Festivities” section. “Avoid using terms like ‘Merry Christmas’ so as not to offend people of other faiths.”

I find this statement to be highly offensive. The entire reason for the holiday season is Christmas. How dare you and your magazine try to diminish our holiday. Christmas is all about love, caring, sharing, generosity and good will and peace on Earth.

ATHENA Award thanks

I want to thank Cincy Magazine, the sponsors, and the judges for the honor that was bestowed upon me for my life’s work at One Way Farm. Since receiving the Athena Award, many people have approached me to express their love and concern for the work that has been my life.

An award such as the Athena Award not only gives credibility to the person receiving it, but encouragement to the individual person. Being a person of poverty, hunger, abuse and limited education has provided the foundation for teaching life’s lessons to our children every day at One Way Farm … I tell them you can survive whatever brought you to One Way Farm children’s home for you have one of the greatest teachers there is, a survivor.

Thank you and God bless,

Barbara J. Condo,
Executive Director, One Way Farm of Fairfield Inc.
