Hospice of the
Bluegrass has grown over the past 30 years into the largest provider of
end-of-life care to residents of the Commonwealth. Expansion into
Northern Kentucky in 1995 and over the years into now a total of 32
counties brings their "team" care approach and experience as a national
leader in hospice and palliative care to more than 1,000 patients and
families on a daily basis.
"It's the
patient's and family's wishes that direct our individualized plan of
care," says Carla Foster, director. "We are there to support that
family during this difficult time. We feel information is a powerful
resource in times of uncertainty... and we provide families with the
information they need to make difficult decisions from an informed
perspective based on our years of experience and education."
Hospice
is their only focus, providing services to all ages from pediatrics to
seniors under the expertise of full-time staff Board Certified Hospice
and Palliative Care physicians. As a non-denominational caregiver,
chaplains and extended staff are educated in all traditions and beliefs
for the comfort of all.
"And because we know
that a patient's death does not mark the end of this process for the
rest of the family we offer professional bereavement counselors... to
assist with the aftermath of loss and the grieving process."
