Want to make your workplace a little greener? In addition to the environmental and cost benefits of reducing waste and saving energy, Hamilton County’s new Go Green Challenge will lend some publicity to your efforts.

Keep Cincinnati Beautiful and Hamilton County’s Solid Waste Management District have partnered with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, Christ Hospital and the University of Cincinnati for the challenge. The program cites the major environmental projects these organizations initiated, including facility-wide recycling or energy efficient (LEED certified) buildings, and challenges all other local businesses to make such changes as well.

To participate, businesses must develop an environmental goal with objectives. The challenge provides plenty of suggestions, such as how to reduce automobile emissions from the company fleet, reduce energy use through a facility energy assessment, or purchase recycled paper for company use. All participating businesses and organizations will be recognized on Earth Day 2008, when results of the challenge will be publicly announced. Participants will receive a Go Green Pledge to display and the Go Green logo for use on websites or promotions.
