The tag line "Local Fare = Local Flair" is not just a catchy phrase for Greater Cincinnati Independent (GCI) Restaurants. It's a way of life for GCI members.

Since the beginning of the food service industry, local, independent restaurants have prepared locally sourced foods with a "flair" that was indicative of the immediate geographical area. This is how the term "regional foods" arose. These foods were not just a product of local farms, but also the tastes and passions of local families, chefs and cooks. Think southern BBQ, New England clambakes, and even goetta here in the Queen City.

Today, independent restaurants continue to serve fresh, locally sourced foods that are prepared with a "flair" that is uniquely local. These restaurants are a reflection of, and an integral part of, the communities that they serve. They spend locally and they hire locally. Their tax dollars stay local, and they reinvest in the community that supports them. The American Independent Business Alliance estimates that money spent with independent restaurants re-circulates at a rate five times greater than that of chain restaurants.
Also, since the beginning of the food service industry, restaurant operators have searched for ways not only to attract new customers, but also to reward their loyal regulars.

GCI has found two ways to do both.
Our new free Rewards Program is designed not only to reward regular patrons at a particular member establishment, but also to introduce them to a vast array of other fine independent restaurants. And not just in Cincinnati, but all around the country.

Our Fall Restaurant Week (the original in Cincinnati) runs Sept. 9-18. It is an opportunity for restaurateurs to thank existing diners, and for new diners to experience some of the local "flair" that is being created on a daily basis, all around the city.

Both programs are an invitation to experience all that Greater Cincinnati's independent restaurants have to offer. And as you go about experiencing some of that local "flair," remember:

What happens during Fall Restaurant Week "¦ stays local during Fall Restaurant Week.
