As the leaves begin to change, everyone from teens to corporate executives will start looking for guidance on what to wear this fall.

Fashion experts point to several key trends this season, including a “sculpted, architectural look” for business professionals. Dillard’s Jerry Talamantes, director of events and public relations, says that a fitted waistline and broader shoulders will “give a little more definition to the shoulder line.”

Berry tones are very popular this fall, as are shades of black and gray. “Black and gray are very important colors ... head to toe or as the basis to any great outfit,” JC Penney Trend Specialist Cynthia Washburn-Nester says.

Menswear prints are also back in style for women. “Look for men’s plaid variations in dresses and suits,” says Laura Schara, Macy’s fashion office manager and trend correspondent.

Other trends include ankle boots, especially those with distressed buckles and leather, and pants, in a variety of
different materials, that are slimmer at the ankles.

For men, the versatility of a sports coat never goes out of style. Sports coats will be slightly shorter this fall than they have been in the past.

Fashion experts also point to accessories as an effective way to avoid breaking the bank while still updating your wardrobe this season.
