Cincy’s affinity for all things swine runs deep in our hearts as well as our stomachs.

With a food truck decked out in iconic Queen City images, and a slogan that reads “Bacon Built this City,” Urban Grill is delivering this regional staple one parking lot at a time.

“Our truck is the embodiment of Porkopolis,” says Betsy Eicher, co-owner of the Urban Grill, along with her brother-in-law, Randy Reichelderfer.

After they started serving meals at the 2013 Bunbury Music Festival, Eicher and Reichelderfer experienced unprecedented popularity throughout the community.

“As last summer went along, we got busier than we’d ever expected,” says Eicher. “We were expecting to be out two times a week, but it quickly turned into five.”

The duo expects to surpass last year’s business by attending more events and venues throughout spring and summer.

Through word of mouth and social media, the Urban Grill has attracted a cult following of pork-lovers. Their most sought after item, the Central Porkway sandwich, features sliced pork tenderloin tucked into a grilled brioche bun and topped with sautéed onions, peppers and a secret recipe bacon jam.

For the no-frills bacon lover, the Urban Grill even has bacon on a stick.

“We had a guy last year that ate six of them, and he only stopped because he almost choked,” says Eicher.

Their menu also features homemade mac ’n cheese, goetta, marinated chicken and meatballs. All items have bacon included, but Eicher makes it clear they have no problem excluding it for pork abstainers.
