Located in OTR, Salazar, a New American modern bistro, offers a can’t-miss dining experience.

“This area reminds us, my wife and I, of downtown New York,” says owner and chef Jose Salazar. “We love the location. It’s a mix of old and new.”

Prep begins at noon each day for the evening’s dinner rush. Featuring a fresh seasonal menu, each dish is plated up with a careful and dedicated hand, before being served to diners at either a table or booth. Popular items for this budding restaurant include the oyster sandwich, the duck leg rillette and the barley risotto.

Make sure to save room for dessert; the chocolate and mascarpone ice cream sandwich is delightful, with a soft, sweet and rich taste. The restaurant also has a selection of craft beers, cocktails and wines, so feel free to ask for a recommendation to pair with the meal.

“There isn’t a specific target audience,” says Salazar. “We want everyone to feel comfortable. People return because of the way they are treated.” It may be a small bistro, but its presence is sure to grow with the start of its new lunch hours.
