Unique beers and burgers at Flipdaddy's Burgers & Beers in Mariemont have led its owner to plan a second location this fall.

Bob Dames, founder and owner, says the restaurant is more than a job. "It was a lifelong dream to own a restaurant," he says. "I used to be in sales, and then after years of traveling and research I decided to open my own (restaurant)."

Dames used trial and error to find the propriety blend of brisket, short rib and all-American ground chuck. But the menu is not filled with ordinary burgers.

A crowd favorite is the El Paso burger with roasted red peppers, fresh corn salsa, lettuce, queso cheese and a piquant chipotle mayonnaise. Also on the menu is the Chuck Norris with a spicy kick, the Black & Tan soaked in a Guiness reduction, and The Oktoberfest with traditional sauerkraut on a pretzel bun.

The key is fresh ingredients.

"I have established a close connection with local beef supplies to have a fresh product," Dames says.

Other ingredients come from local farmers, and the restaurant supports Mount Carmel Brewing Company in Cincinnati with two options always on tap. Wraps, pastas and salads are also on the menu.

A second location will open in the fall on Mason-Montgomery Road.
