The Christ Hospital appointed Matt Shuler as general counsel. Shuler will oversee legal functions and risk management for the organization, including oversight of regulatory matters, contractual relationships, medical-legal claims, litigation, privacy requirements, corporate governance, government relations and other legal concerns.

Deskey, a branding and identity firm, promoted Chris Rowland to vice president of client services, and Amanda Matusak to vice president of brand strategy. Landor Associates, one of the world's leading strategic brand consulting and design firms, has promoted Mary Zalla to president. Based in Cincinnati, Zalla previously served as managing director of the Cincinnati and Chicago offices, which she will still oversee.

Buckhorn Inc., a provider of reusable plastic packaging and material handling systems, named Lorraine Gibbs as director of human resources. Gibbs assumes responsibility for HR for the Milford-based company, as well as its sister company, Akro-Mils.

The Board of Trustees at Columbus Montessori Education Center approved Lenn Turner as their permanent executive director. Turner earned a master's degree in educational administration from Ohio State University and has spent 30 years as a teacher and administrator.

Xavier University selected Sean Rhiney as director of the Eigel Center for Community-Engaged Learning. Previously, Rhiney was public service coordinator and counselor in the Center for Professional Development at the University of Cincinnati College of Law.

Cincinnati State President Dr. O'dell M. Owens has chosen associate head coach Ron Harris to lead the women's basketball program on an interim basis for the 2011-12 season. Harris has served as director of recruiting and as assistant to the previous head coach, Theresa Check.

Jon M. Garon, an authority on intellectual property, joined the faculty of the Northern Kentucky University Chase College of Law. He will be inaugural director of the new NKU Chase Law and Informatics Institute, which is dedicated to promoting thoughtful public discourse on the regulation and use of information systems.
