It starts with the warm chocolate chip cookies at check-in at the DoubleTree Suites Hotel Cincinnati-Blue Ash.

The cookies, baked using a secret recipe, are a symbol of the warm hospitality guests have come to expect. They have become a tradition at DoubleTree Suites, one of three full-service brands operated by Hilton Worldwide Hotels.

“After the trials and tribulations of traveling here, the idea is the cookies and the service provided by our staff should be your reward. We call it CARE (Create a Rewarding Experience),” says David Sundermann, general manager.

Located at 6300 E. Kemper Road, just off Interstate 275 and Reed Hartman Highway, the DoubleTree offers 152 two-room suites featuring separate living and bedroom areas. Each living room comes with a sleeper sofa and work area for the business traveler.

All the suites come equipped with amenities such as a microwave, refrigerator, mini-bar, high-speed Internet access, hairdryer and two flat-panel HD TVs offering cable and pay-per view movies.

Because of its location near some of the region’s largest employers like GE Aviation, Procter & Gamble Co., Johnson & Johnson’s Ethicon Endo-Surgery and Kroger Co., the DoubleTree is heavily focused on the business traveler during the week. A conference and banquet facility offers seating for up to 180.

The Bistro, the on-site restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, has been a Taste of Blue Ash winner each year since 2008. “Our specialty is steak,” says Sundermann.

On weekends, because of its proximity to Kings Island and athletic tournaments, leisure travelers predominate, Sundermann says.

The hotel features an outdoor swimming pool and spa. Its fitness center, business center and gift shop are open around the clock.

First opened in 1988 as a Pickett Suites hotel, the facility was converted to the DoubleTree brand in 2000. It was the first DoubleTree in the Cincinnati area and one of the first in the Midwest. Today, DoubleTree has 346 hotels around the globe including suite hotels in Miamisburg and Hebron, Ky., near the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.

The hotel is in the midst of a multi-year renovation. Recently, it finished a complete redo of the first floor with new carpet and wall coverings. Next year, it will undertake a $2 million remodeling of all the guest suites.

One thing that won’t change is the 65-person staff’s commitment to customer service, Sundermann says. The facility has scored in the top 10 percent in customer service at DoubleTree properties for five consecutive years.
