Q: HOW DID AIRLINE GROUND SCHOOLS (AGS) HELP PREPARE YOU FOR YOUR CURRENT POSITION AS AN AIRCRAFT DISPATCHER FOR COMAIR?
A:
I graduated AGS in September 1999 after a 13-week program and they prepared me for my FAA license. It's a very interesting career. I do all the behind-the-scenes work. It's like taking apart a jigsaw puzzle and putting it back together. As an aircraft dispatcher, I do several things"”prepare weather information, route information, etc., for the captain"”and put it all together to come out with a finished product. I really enjoy what I do.

Q. I'VE EARNED MY DEGREE. WHY IS IT NECESSARY TO PURSUE CONTINUING EDUCATION?
A. A piece of paper doesn't guarantee you success or a job. There are many successful people who never earned a degree, but that doesn't mean they didn't pursue knowledge in one form or another. In many areas imagination plays as large a role as knowledge. In fact, Albert Einstein was quoted as saying "Imagination is more important than knowledge." Regardless, the thirst for learning should never stop in any field if you expect to keep your mind active and your life meaningful. Continuing education can take on many forms. There is on-the-job training or the Public Library, plus the online courses available today through the internet offer enormous opportunity. All a person needs today is the desire and the ambition to move forward. In today's' fast-paced world, you cannot stand on your laurels.

Q. WHAT KINDS OF COMPANIES CAN YOU HELP WITH YOUR SALES SYSTEM?
A. I can only help two kinds of companies: those that sacrifice margins to make the sale, have problems closing sales, suffer from "I'll think it over," etc.; and, successful companies that are ready to take their business to the next level. I can help them develop their competitive edge and excel.
