Sssssh. Don’t tell anyone, but there’s quite a secret hidden in Green Township. It’s the Nathanael Greene Lodge & Reception Hall at 6394 Wesselman Road.

“No one really knows we’re here,” says Cindy Tabler, Nathanael Greene Lodge manager. “We’re kind of tucked back a way in a park-like setting away from a main thoroughfare.”

Opened in 1999, the facility owned by Green Township is named after Nathanael Greene, a famous Revolutionary War general, says Tabler. The rooms in the lodge are all named after historic terms and locations associated with Greene, such as the Continental Ballroom, the Mulberry Room and the West Point Room, she says.

Because of the diverse size of the rooms the Nathanael Greene Lodge & Reception Hall is able to host all kinds of events, including club meetings, anniversaries, birthday parties, first communions, baby showers, bridal showers, graduation parties and weddings, Tabler says.

The largest room, the Continental Ballroom, seats ups to 200 people, while the Mulberry Room—which includes the adjacent outdoor patio area—has enough space for up to 80 people and the West Point Room accommodates up to 50 people, she says.

The outdoor patio, which is great for casual summer parties and gatherings, is also where wedding ceremonies are conducted during pleasant weather, says Tabler. Wedding ceremonies can be conducted indoors during inclement weather.

Renting space at the Nathanael Greene Lodge & Reception Hall for weddings includes an event coordinator, says Tabler. The event coordinator meets with brides in advance to discuss details of the wedding, organize the set-up and cleanup, and coordinate the entire event, including the timing of the ceremony and reception, she says.

Although rental of the facility does not include alcohol, clients are able to hire an outside bar service. “We allow you to have alcohol at your event, but you have to have a license and insured bartending service,” says Tabler.

Rental costs depend on whether the client is a resident of Green Township or not and the day of the week, Tabler says. Rental of the ballroom, for example, is $2,200 on Fridays and Saturdays and $1,600 on Sundays through Thursdays for Green Township residents. The cost for nonresidents is $2,600 for Fridays and Saturdays and $2,000 Sundays through Thursdays.

The Mulberry and West Point rooms cost $600 for residents on Fridays and Saturdays and $500 Sundays through Thursdays. Those same rooms for nonresidents cost $800 on Fridays and Saturdays and $700 Sundays through Thursdays.

Rental of any of the rooms at Nathanael Greene Lodge & Reception Hall is sure to make any event shine. That’s because this rustic facility tucked in a serene, wooded setting is one of the jewels on the West Side of Cincinnati.

“We like to call it the little gem of Green Township,” says Tabler.
